House lifts

For 30 years, DDB has specialized in deconstructing, rebuilding, and transforming old houses. We’ve completed dozens of projects in which house lifts were necessary to achieve the projects’ goals. That experience has made us experts at managing the multiple steps necessary for excavators and house lift contractors to complete their work.

Why lift a house?

  •  Houses built over 100 years ago are sometimes situated on the property non-conformingto current zoning standards. Lifting a house allows for its move to a new location on the property, rendering it conforming to current zoning laws.

  • Coastal houses prone to flooding have foundations and crawl spaces degraded from chronic exposure to water. Lifting houses and building new foundations remediates flooding issues and solidifies structures against future storms.

  • While deconstructing older houses, DDB has discovered structures built on foundations that are not plumb and square. Lifting a house, building a new foundation, and placing a newly reinforced structure upon it ensures the house will exist as a home for at least another hundred years.
