Project Description:

This new “vintage” home is located a short walk to the Atlantic Ocean in Spring Lake with a rich Victorian architectural heritage. Responding to custom home buyer seeking traditional vernacular design, this project incorporates the forms, textures, window profiles and roof dormers which are the invaluable elements of the “Period Style” homes which are found throughout the Jersey Shore.

An adaptation of the central hall colonial, this offers traditional room proportions, high ceilings, large bay windows, and refined moulding creating a setting which is both formal and relaxed throughout the home's three levels. The refined selection of custom window profiles, including “diamond lites” delineate the facade while creating subtle shadow-lines throughout the sun-drenched interiors.

This new 3,900 square foot home was originally commissioned as a “spec” house, but a young family acquired the property prior to construction, which enabled further customization of the layout, details and decor. The client’s thoughtful approach to the decor creates a tranquil setting with a pastel color scheme, including sea mist green and blues tones. The “penthouse” level offers a large (20 X 22) loft space which can serve as a large bedroom, gym, or a billiard room as the family expands. Exceptional ocean and bay views are captured on the “sunset” terrace - the perfect setting for watching the sunrise and sunsets after a long day on the beach!
